Agoria has set up a Roadshow for 2021 where a number of Factory of the Future winners explain their transformation approach. Together with companies such as Duracell, Van Hoecke, Borit, Materialize and ED&A, Rf-Technologies will host the sessions of the Roadshow ‘Digital Factory’ in April and May 2021.
On February 23, during a special online event organised by Agoria and Sirris, the Factory of the Future Awards were presented as is the case every year. For this edition, 3 manufacturing companies were again elected to proudly display the label ‘Factory of the Future’ for the next three years.
Achieving this coveted label is no easy task. Candidates – Belgian companies or companies with a Belgian production site – are only elected Factory of the Future after a process to transform the entire company and after they subsequently pass a rigorous audit of the seven transformations.
Becoming a Factory of the Future is quite an achievement in normal times. 2020 was by no means an ordinary year, and the global health crisis and economic impact have put additional pressure on companies that are already making full efforts to transform themselves. The recently awarded companies demonstrate remarkable resilience and are an inspiring example for the entire Belgian industry.
42 Factories setting a new benchmark in competitiveness and innovation
With the 2021 Award winners, Belgium now has 42 Factories of the Future. An interesting fact is that these companies invested a total of 1.9 billion euros in R&D over the past 5 years and that they created an average of 17% extra employment, well above the market average. In short, the automation, robotization and digitization that all these manufacturing companies realized together do not destroy jobs. On the contrary, they create new jobs, anchor their production activities in our country and give an important boost to the economy. Thanks to smart investments in the further automation and digitization of their production equipment and their employees, these high performers are clearly ahead of the competition and set a new benchmark.
Factory of the Future Roadshow
Rf-Technologies was awarded a Factory of the Future Award in 2019, and has not rested on its laurels ever since. In addition to the ambition to continue to grow, even in difficult market conditions, our R&D and production department work every day on the transformation to a Digital Factory.
